Our
Two-Bedroom Cabins

Our "newest"
cabins, the two-bedroom cabins were built shortly
after World War II, when returning servicemen
and postwar American optimism were launching the
Baby Boom. These new families needed more spacious
vacation accommodations, and so Rex and Madeleine
Houston built these larger cabins in 1948-1949.
Today, these cabins provide a comfortable and
relaxing vacation experience for larger families,
or for 2-3 couples who want to share expenses.
Each of these larger, two-bedroom cabins has unique
features, but both have knotty pine walls and
ceilings, complete kitchens, and a queen-size
bed in each bedroom. The living rooms include
a futon couch that converts into a very comfortable
double bed, a ceiling fan, and free-standing stove
with gas logs for atmosphere and auxiliary heating.
Each bedroom also has a ceiling fan. Both cabins
have central heating and air conditioning.
Cabin # 5 is a two-story building, built rather
uniquely with the bedrooms on the bottom floor
and the living room and kitchen upstairs. (This
design kept the bedrooms cooler in hot weather
in a time before air conditioning.) Each bedroom
has a separate entry door, and features a tile
floor. (There's also tile in the bathroom and
kitchen.) The view from the upstairs windows reminds
you of being in a treehouse, with a beautiful
view of the lake and surrounding woods. In addition,
a covered porch provides a relaxing place to relax,
read, or socialize.
Cabin # 6 is
all on one level, with the two bedrooms and bath
on the back side, and the living room and kitchen
on the front, facing the lake. This cabin has
tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom, with
pine flooring throughout the rest of the cabin.
There's also a nice porch to relax on, visit,
or enjoy the woods and lake. The bathroom features
a tub with shower.
These cabins rent for $160 per night, plus tax,
with a two night minimum. Price includes "breakfast
fixins" ~ we stock the refrigerator for your
breakfast with eggs, bacon, English muffins, cinnamon
rolls, milk, and orange juice, and also provide
regular and decaf coffee for the coffeemaker.
(There is a small additional charge for more than
4 guests and for pets.)
